Should I Do It or Not? — The Hidden Wisdom Behind Hesitation
"I don't know whether to do it or not."
This is the one question I hear more than anything else —after all these years of listening to people's lives, I can tell you this: , I can tell you this: that hesitation you're feeling right now is not a weakness. It's proof that you are living with intention.
Whether it's something small like what to have for lunch, or something that keeps you up at night — whether to leave your job, reach out to that person, or finally let a relationship go — life is a constant stream of decisions. And the ones that matter most are the ones we circle around the longest.
I hear it all the time in my sessions: "what should I do? Part of me feels like I should, and part of me feels like I shouldn't…"
What Hesitation Is Really Telling You
There's an old saying passed down through generations: "When you're unsure whether to do it — don't."
Not forever. Just until you truly understand why you hesitate.
When I first heard that, I thought it sounded too simple. But after listening to thousands of people's stories over the years, I've come to understand the profound wisdom in those words.
Animals don't hesitate — they act on instinct. But we have the capacity to pause, to look inward, and to ask why before we move. That pause is not a flaw. It's a deeply human process. Discernment is our privilege, and we grow through it.
When hesitation lingers, it's usually because something inside you is quietly signaling: Not yet. Wait until you're ready.
Caught Between Yes and No
So what do you actually do when hesitation shows up? Here's what I share with my clients:
• Stop. Don't rush. A decision forced before its time leaves a quiet unease behind, even when things work out. Give yourself the honest space you need.
• Look at the Why. Is it fear? A genuine lack of certainty? Or are you avoiding the discomfort of deciding? When you identify the root of your hesitation, the direction reveals itself.
• Wait for the Click. When you truly understand a situation — when it clicks — the energy to act comes naturally. A choice made through honest reflection holds steady no matter the outcome, because it came from your own clear, unforced inner voice.
Luck Isn't Something That Happens to You
Many people come to me asking, "Is my luck just bad?" or "Is this my fate?"
I understand that impulse. When you've agonized over a choice and it still didn't pan out, it's natural to look for an outside explanation.
It's not that lucky people always make perfect choices. It's that people who keep showing up — who keep growing, keep trying, and keep choosing — are the ones who create their own luck. Even when they stumble, they find their way back.
This moment of choice you're in right now? It's one more piece of the life you're building. Don't let fear make it smaller than it is.

If you're reading this, chances are you're sitting with something unresolved. Please remember this:
What matters most isn't the choice itself. It's how you live after you've made it.
Your hesitation isn't wrong. The answer is already somewhere inside it.
What's the one thing weighing on your mind today? Feel free to share it in the comments — let's find the wisdom hidden in your pause, together.
